Life in Microsoft
Notes from working inside a large product organization where reliability, accessibility, and delivery operations mattered as much as feature work.
Reflections on Three Years at Microsoft: More Than Just Code
Stepping into the Microsoft AI R&D Center in Taiwan for the first time, I felt a mix of adrenaline and the weight of high expectations. Looking back at my time as a Software Engineer on the VDI team from 2022 to 2025, it wasn't just about the massive scale of the products; it was about the culture of constant evolution and the people who make it happen.
Engineering at the Speed of AI
My daily life was a deep dive into the intersection of cloud-native systems and intelligence. One of my core focuses was orchestrating the migration of VDI products into Azure AI StudioVDI products into Azure AI Studio. It was a massive technical puzzle—aligning legacy capabilities with the future of scalable, AI-enabled workflows.
The environment was a playground for efficiency. I spent a lot of time:
- Leveraging CopilotLeveraging Copilot: We used AI-assisted programming to optimize Azure Form Recognizer workflows, speeding up how we handled enterprise document processingAzure Form Recognizer.
- Building for DevelopersBuilding for Developers: I architected repeatable Linux workflows using WSL2, which cut down on configuration headaches and helped the whole team move fasterWSL2.
- Advocating for InclusionAdvocating for Inclusion: Beyond the logic, I made it a priority to implement accessibility features, ensuring our designs were inclusive for every useraccessibility features.

The Desktop Essentials
Life in the office was characterized by those small, familiar rituals: a fresh cup of tea in a Microsoft mug and the tactile feel of a Surface Precision Mouse. Whether I was debugging with Jest or building UI components in React, having a workspace that felt like "home" made those long coding sessions much smootherJest****React.
Beyond the Screen
What I’ll miss most isn't just the tech stack—it’s the collaboration. Working alongside brilliant minds in Taipei taught me that building a "Data-Intensive Application" is as much about team communication as it is about consensus algorithms.
